Apple’s long-rumored Smart Home Device could launch in fall 2026
Apple has been working for years to expand its smart home products. Now, reports suggest the company may finally release its much-talked-about home hub device this fall. Industry insiders have been calling it the “HomePad”, though the official name has not yet been confirmed.
The device is expected to have a 7-inch square display and a front-facing camera. The screen would serve as a central control point for smart home gadgets, while also supporting video calls and other interactive features.
Apple is reportedly testing two hardware designs. One version could mount on a wall, acting as a fixed control panel. The second may include a speaker base, similar to the HomePod mini, allowing it to sit on a kitchen counter, desk, or side table.
The hub may also feature built-in sensors to detect when someone is nearby. This would let the screen show personalized information depending on who is standing in front of it.
Voice control will be key, with Siri expected to manage many features. Some reports suggest Siri may get a new visual interface designed specifically for the device.
The device is expected to cost around $350. Earlier rumors predicted an early 2024 launch, but delays in developing AI features pushed the timeline first to late 2025, and now potentially to late 2026. If the reports are correct, this fall could finally see Apple release its long-awaited smart home hub.
