Probe holds US responsible for Minab massacre; lawmaker demands Trump’s impeachment

Minab School Attack: US probe says American forces killed 170 Iranian schoolgirls
March 2026: A new investigation has reportedly blamed the United States for a deadly missile strike on a school in Minab, a town in southern Iran. The attack, which took place on February 28, killed more than 170 people, mostly children, and has sparked international outrage.
The strike targeted the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School during the first day of the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran. Reports say at least 175 victims, many of them young students, died when a missile hit the school building.
Initially, officials in Washington denied any role in the attack. Donald Trump also rejected the accusations and claimed that Iran itself might have been responsible for the incident.
However, a report cited by The New York Times said an ongoing military investigation found that the strike was carried out using a Tomahawk missile, a weapon system typically used by the US military. According to the report, this detail strongly points to the United States as the source of the attack.
The newspaper described the bombing as one of the most devastating military mistakes in recent decades, especially because the target was a school full of children. The findings have also raised questions about the conduct of the war and the safety of civilian areas.
Following the report, US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib called for the impeachment of Donald Trump. In a message posted on X, she accused the administration of committing war crimes and demanded accountability.
Tlaib said the bombing of a school that killed mostly young girls should lead to strong legal action. She also urged international courts to investigate the incident and hold responsible officials accountable.
According to reports, the wider conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran has already resulted in the deaths of more than 1,300 civilians. Several civilian locations, including schools and hospitals, have reportedly been affected during the fighting.
Iran has responded by launching attacks on Israeli targets and US military assets in several regional countries. These retaliatory strikes have also disrupted oil and natural gas production and transportation across the region.
The Minab tragedy has intensified global debate about civilian protection during wartime and raised new concerns about the humanitarian cost of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
