Relief for Mobile Users; PTA Takes Action Against Frequent Increases in Mobile Packages
Telecom users in Pakistan have complained about frequent increases in mobile package prices. In response, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken action to control the situation.
PTA has stopped telecom companies from raising mobile package prices on a monthly basis. Now, mobile package rates can only be increased on a quarterly basis, officials said.
Previously, telecom companies used to raise prices every month. Under the new rules, companies can only increase prices by 10 to 20 percent compared to last year’s rates, after approval from PTA.
Officials said that complaints from users prompted this action. PTA has also enforced the Mobile Tariff Regulations 2025 to ensure a structured and balanced tariff system.
Telecom companies must now seek PTA approval before launching new packages or increasing current rates. This ensures transparency and protects consumers from sudden price hikes.
