Yemeni Forces Reportedly Strike Saudi Aramco Oil Facilities

07 September, 2026 20:56

Yemeni armed forces have reportedly launched a new wave of attacks targeting oil infrastructure operated by Saudi state-owned energy giant Aramco, according to the Financial Times. The report, citing two people familiar with the matter, said the energy facilities were hit on Monday and that the extent of the damage was still being assessed. One source described the attack as comparable in scale to a strike last month that temporarily disrupted some production at the refinery.

The latest reported attack comes amid continued tensions between Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Aramco CEO Amin Nasser said last month that attacks originating from Yemen had caused some interruptions to oil production, while maintaining that they had not produced a material operational or financial impact. The Jizan refinery has a reported processing capacity of approximately 400,000 barrels per day.

The development follows a statement by Yemeni armed forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree that Yemeni air defenses had intercepted and shot down a Saudi Royal Air Force Wing Loong II reconnaissance drone over Yemen’s central al-Bayda Province. Yemeni forces also previously reported targeting a CH-4 reconnaissance and precision-strike drone with a surface-to-air missile while it was conducting operations over the northern province of al-Jawf.
