Iranian Commander: Enemy Failed to Anticipate Iran Could Expand Battlefield Across Region

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari has said Iran’s adversaries failed to anticipate that the Islamic Republic would be capable of changing the course of the confrontation and expanding the battlefield across the region. He described the Strait of Hormuz as a key strategic issue with the potential to significantly affect regional and global equations, saying Iran’s use of its strategic capabilities had enabled it to influence global economic dynamics.

Heidari said Iran’s adversaries had entered the confrontation based on extensive scenarios and calculations, while seeking to create unrest, insecurity and instability inside the country through hybrid warfare and affiliated elements. He argued that the enemy’s miscalculations were a major factor in the confrontation, saying Iran’s opponents had repeatedly underestimated the capabilities, determination and potential of the Iranian people.

The senior commander stressed that Iran’s strength was rooted in unity between the armed forces and the nation. He said strengthening internal cohesion and coordination was essential, adding that the solidarity between the Iranian people and their armed forces had helped thwart the enemy’s attempts to achieve its objectives.
