Nancy Guthrie Spotted At Mexican Border? All About USD 70K Bitcoin Demand Linked

Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case: Insurance Rumours Surface as Authorities Clear Family Members
The search for missing Arizona woman Nancy Guthrie has entered its 41st day with no confirmed breakthrough. The 84-year-old, who is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona on February 1, 2026.
Authorities including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the case as a possible kidnapping.
Anonymous Tipster Claims Mexico Border Sighting
A new claim has surfaced during the investigation. An unidentified person contacted media outlets and said they saw Nancy Guthrie near the United States–Mexico border in March 2026.
According to reports, the individual demanded $70,000 in Bitcoin in exchange for revealing the exact location of Nancy and the identity of the person she was allegedly with.
The sender claimed the person accompanying Nancy told them to “stay quiet.” They said they contacted the media instead of the police because they did not trust law enforcement.
Investigators say this is the sixth ransom-style message sent to media organizations since the search began.
Investigators Question the Tip’s Credibility
Journalist Dave Mack discussed the claim during an episode of Crime Stories with Nancy Grace.
Mack described the information as “very vague.” The tipster did not provide an exact location, photos, or video proof. Authorities also have not confirmed that Nancy Guthrie has been seen in Mexico.
Despite this, the tipster insisted they were confident about the identification.
Officials in Arizona have reportedly contacted Mexican authorities to share information in case any credible sighting emerges.
Investigation Faces Several Setbacks
The investigation has faced multiple challenges. A black glove found about two miles from Nancy’s home was sent for testing. However, DNA recovered from the glove did not match any profiles in the FBI’s CODIS database.
Volunteers searching nearby areas also found a backpack, but investigators said it did not match the bag carried by the masked person seen in surveillance footage outside Nancy’s home.
On February 25, 2026, federal agents conducted what sources described as a final evidence sweep at the Tucson residence.
Case May Move to Long-Term Investigation
Reports suggest the investigation could move into a smaller long-term task force phase after early leads failed to identify a suspect.
Officials maintain that the search remains active. However, the lack of strong evidence has slowed progress.
For now, the reported sighting near the Mexico border remains unverified, and investigators continue to urge anyone with real information to contact authorities.
