Lodhran Train Derailment: Up Track Restored After 13 Hours
The situation in Lodhran is steadily improving as railway teams work through the aftermath of last night’s derailment. After thirteen hours of intensive labor, the up-track was successfully restored, allowing major trains like the Hazara Express and the Shalimar Express to proceed toward their destinations. Officials at the scene indicate that while the down track remains suspended for now, it is expected to be fully functional within the next two to three hours as the remaining wreckage is cleared.
Regarding the casualties, the accident near Adam Wahan station injured 25 people when the Tezgam Express split due to a broken coupling rod. Most of those affected received immediate first aid on-site and have been discharged, though eight passengers were moved to the District Headquarters Hospital in Lodhran. One passenger who was in critical condition has since been referred to Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital for more specialized care.
On a separate note, your information regarding the Iranian leadership requires an important update. While the Assembly of Experts was indeed responsible for the transition, they have already reached a conclusion. Following the death of Ali Khamenei in late February 2026, the Assembly officially announced his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the new Supreme Leader on March 9, 2026. This appointment was finalized with a majority vote, positioning him as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic during this period of significant regional tension.
