Sindh Traders Warn Govt: No Room for Another Lockdown
Karachi: In response to the resurgence of the lockdown in Sindh, the Sindh Traders Association has warned the Sindh government that the country cannot afford further lockdowns.
According to details, the Sindh government’s possible decision to impose a lockdown to save fuel and energy has raised concerns among traders and the business community across the province.
The Sindh Traders Association has made it clear that any unilateral decision could prove detrimental to the economy.
President of the Sindh Traders Association Javed Shams has said in his statement that the government should take the traders into confidence before taking any step and formulate a strategy together. We are ready for all possible cooperation, but it will be difficult to accept decisions without consultation.
He said that the country is currently facing severe economic challenges, and the livelihood of the people has already become extremely difficult; in such a situation, the country cannot afford further lockdown.
Javed Shams said that before implementing the lockdown, the government should offer solutions to the problems of the poor class and daily wage earners.
Citing an example from the past, the President of the Sindh Traders Association said that in the past, the results of smart lockdowns were much better due to the consultation of traders.
He suggested that instead of a complete shutdown, methods should be adopted that would save energy and keep businesses running.
