Iran Warns IAEA Chief Over “Biased” Remarks
Rafael Grossi, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has come under fire from a top Iranian official who warned that his recent “biased and destructive” comments against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program exacerbate the situation.
Iran’s peaceful nuclear program could only be stopped by US-Israeli aggression, according to Grossi, who also stated that only a catastrophic nuclear war could destroy Iran’s capabilities “in an unfathomable way, which we hope, of course, will never be the case.”
Legal and International Affairs Deputy Foreign Minister The comments were damaging and unprofessional, according to Kazem Gharibabadi.
In a post on his X account, he stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly objects to these biased and passive remarks by the director general of the agency and issues a serious warning regarding them.”
He continued, “Mr. Grossi has done nothing helpful regarding Iran thus far; on the contrary, his destructive remarks occasionally only make the situation worse.”
Additionally, the Iranian ambassador questioned whether Grossi is “a media analyst” or the leader of an international organization.
According to Gharibabadi, Grossi has yet to denounce US-Israeli attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, such as the two recent raids on the Bushehr nuclear power plant site.
“He is pointing out ways to destroy Iran’s legitimate and legal nuclear activities instead of issuing serious warnings about the consequences of war on Iran’s safeguarded nuclear program or any use of destructive and illegal weapons.”
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran reports that on Tuesday, a missile hit the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, indicating a concerning increase in US-Israeli terrorism against Iran’s civilian infrastructure.
Following an earlier attack on the plant on March 5, the most recent event raises serious worries about the potentially disastrous outcomes of such illegal activity.
Ali Bahreini, the Iranian ambassador to the UN in Geneva, expressed serious worries about the consequences of such aggressive actions.
Bahreini emphasized the environmental effects of attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and oil storage facilities in a letter to Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), claiming that such actions pose a serious and long-term threat to public health.
Russia, which assisted in the construction of Iran’s first nuclear power plant, issued a warning on Monday about the severe threat of US-Israeli strikes on the country’s Bushehr nuclear power plant.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, such strikes might have irreversible effects.
