How To Check if Your KitKat Is From the Stolen Batch Using the New Tracker; Here's a Details
More than 400,000 KitKat bars have been stolen during a truck transit across Europe, prompting Nestlé to launch a special tracking tool for consumers.
The shipment, consisting of 413,793 chocolate bars (around 12 tonnes), went missing while being transported from central Italy to Poland. Authorities are currently investigating the case, but the truck and its cargo remain unaccounted for.
How to Check Your KitKat Using the Tracker
In response to the theft, Nestlé has introduced a “Stolen KitKat Tracker” to help consumers verify their purchases.
- Locate the 8-digit batch number on the back of your KitKat packaging
- Enter the number into the official online tracker
- If the code matches the stolen batch, report it to the company
The company has also clarified on social media that the incident is real and not a marketing stunt.
No Safety or Supply Concerns
Despite the large-scale theft, Nestlé has reassured customers that there are no safety risks associated with the stolen products. The company also confirmed that overall supply remains stable and unaffected.
Rising Cargo Theft in Europe
The incident highlights a growing trend of cargo theft across Europe. According to industry reports, such crimes are becoming more frequent and sophisticated, targeting high-value goods like food and electronics.
Similar Incidents in the Past
This is not the first case of large-scale chocolate theft. In 2023, a man in the UK was sentenced to prison for stealing around 200,000 chocolate eggs, showing a pattern of similar crimes in recent years.
Authorities continue to investigate the latest case, while Nestlé is encouraging public cooperation to help track down the missing shipment.
