Pakistan, Turkiye to sign judicial cooperation MoU tomorrow
The Supreme Court of Pakistan will host a high-level delegation from the Constitutional Court of Turkiye from April 6 to 9, during which both countries are set to formalize a judicial cooperation framework through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The visiting delegation, led by Kadir Ozkaya, President of Turkiye’s top court, includes judges and senior officials. The MoU signing ceremony is scheduled for April 6 at the Supreme Court, according to an official statement.
The agreement aims to establish structured collaboration between Pakistan and Turkiye’s superior courts, focusing on judicial exchange, capacity building, and sharing best practices in adjudication. It underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthening constitutional governance, upholding the rule of law, and reinforcing judicial independence.
Key aspects of the cooperation include professional development for judges, particularly at the district level, through joint training programs, academic exchanges, and exposure to comparative judicial practices. The initiative also emphasizes integrating modern technologies into judicial processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and access to justice.
The MoU further provides for a joint working group to ensure sustained engagement and effective implementation. During the visit, the Turkiye delegation will hold high-level institutional meetings, engage with key stakeholders, and discuss challenges in adjudication, judicial administration, and ongoing reforms.
In addition to official engagements, the delegation will visit Taxila and the Walled City of Lahore, showcasing Pakistan’s cultural heritage and promoting people-to-people ties. The MoU signing ceremony will be broadcast live and attended by Supreme Court judges, chief justices of high courts, senior government officials, and legal professionals.
This collaboration is part of broader efforts by the Supreme Court to modernize
