Malala Responds as Shehzad Roy Questions Her Global Links
Shehzad Roy’s podcast ‘Laga Reh’ first episode has released this week, in which Malala Yousafzai appeared as a guest, and the show host ask toughest questions to Malala which she answered sharply.
During Podcast, Shehzad Roy pressed her on her connections in a Broadway production and her links with former US Secretay of State Hillary Clinton, a known supporter of Israel.
Shehzad Roy also raise his eyebrow and asked the Noble winner, that why she needs to create link in a Broadway production with Hillary Clinton, and also taking photos with her, is there any specific reason, because Clinton has been a standing supporter of Israel all the time, and the whole world against her, so What was the need for you to do this,” Roy asked.
Malala instantly strapped back on the parts of questions, she answered “Some of what you said is incorrect. First, I want to clarify that I never took a photo with Hillary. People often combine separate photos and present them as if we were together. That is not true. At the premiere, I wore a ceasefire pin to express solidarity with Palestinians, but that photo was not circulated.”
She clear up that her executive producer recognition on the Broadway production doesn’t entail she was straight involved in the project’s day-to-day work, and noted “It is more like being an ambassador supporting the work. There were many executive producers, and I did not know all of them initially. ”

A user remarked that accepting an executive producer title without being aware of the other producers involved looked unpredictable. The user did not find that satisfactory and wrote, “She is attaching her name to a Broadway production and she did not ask questions like who are the other producers? A solidarity pin cannot make up for that.”
More discussion in which Malala had said in the start of the podcast that she wore a ceasefire pin at the Broadway premiere to show solidarity with Palestinians, but pointed out that the photo with the pin was never spread and went ignored.
Even some user called her “mental gymnastics”.
Others asked the reliability of the whole thing and commented. “Just want to know how many times they practiced this before recording.”
To give Shehzad Roy credit commented, “Shehzad is setting the bar high for hosting,” and others argued that, “her stance regarding the genocide in Gaza was quite murky from the start.”
Another said “The whole point of interviewing her is to question her credibility and stance. Do I think Roy did a good job? Absolutely yes.”
One user related her to Imran Khan, calling her his female counterpart, while another claimed she appears disconnected from ground realities.
One viewer described her as intelligent but said that didn’t change the fact that her responses on Gaza fell flat.
