Petrol prices likely to drop in Pakistan today

10 April, 2026 16:36

The federal government is likely to announce a big reduction in petrol prices in Pakistan today (April 10). The government expects this step to provide relief to people, particularly as global oil prices show improvement.

A senior government official said the weekly price review will be done today and promised “good news” for the public. However, the exact decrease in petrol prices has not been shared yet.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has completed its calculations and will send a summary to the Ministry of Finance. After that, the ministry will consult with Shehbaz Sharif before announcing the final prices.

Earlier, the prime minister had also hinted at providing relief to people due to falling global oil prices. This came after improved conditions following talks between the US and Iran, which may help ease energy supply concerns.

Current Petrol Prices

At present, fuel prices in Pakistan are:

  • Petrol: Rs378.41 per liter
  • High-Speed Diesel: Rs520.35 per liter
  • Light Diesel Oil (LDO): Rs395.03 per liter
  • Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO): Rs467.48 per liter

Extra Relief Measures

Earlier this month, the governments of Sindh and Punjab announced a subsidy of Rs100 per liter on up to 20 liters of petrol for motorcyclists. This step was taken to reduce the burden of high fuel prices.
