Iran Ready for Talks but Says US Cannot Be Trusted

11 April, 2026 11:40

Islamabad: Iranian Parliament member Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf has said that Iran is participating in the talks in a spirit of goodwill, but the United States cannot be fully trusted.

In his statement ahead of the expected talks in Islamabad, Qalibaf made it clear that Tehran is ready for any agreement if the US presents a serious and workable agreement and recognizes Iran’s rights.

He stressed that some basic points must be implemented before negotiations can begin, including a ceasefire in Lebanon and the recovery of Iran’s frozen assets. According to him, these points had already been agreed upon but had not yet been implemented.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi also urged the US to keep its promises, saying that the US had promised a ceasefire in Lebanon, which should be implemented.

It should be noted that the Iranian delegation, led by Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has arrived in Islamabad for important talks with the US. The delegation includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Secretary of the Defense Council, Governor of the Central Bank and other senior officials.
