13 April, 2026 17:00

Maryam Nawaz has extended the deadline for the Free Solar Panel Scheme 2026, giving more time for citizens to apply.

About the Free Solar Panel Scheme

The CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme is a government initiative designed to provide free solar energy systems to low-income households. The aim is to promote clean and renewable energy while reducing electricity costs for poor families.

Under the scheme, solar systems will be given free of cost to households using between 0 to 200 electricity units per month. The selection will be done through a transparent balloting process.

Households that fall into the following categories can apply:

  • 0–50 units (Life Line consumers)
  • 51–100 units (Life Line consumers)
  • 0–100 units (Protected and Un-protected)
  • 101–200 units (Protected and Un-protected)

Consumers with a sanctioned load of up to 2KW are eligible for the scheme.

How to Apply

Citizens can register for the scheme through the official website: cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk

They can also apply by SMS by sending their bill reference number and CNIC to 8800.

The government says the scheme will help reduce electricity bills and support families in shifting towards solar energy.
