PM Shehbaz launches Apna Ghar Program low-cost housing loan scheme

ISLAMABAD – The Prime Minister’s new housing package under the Apna Ghar Program will be announced today.

Under this scheme, people can get home loans from Rs2.5 million to Rs10 million for up to 20 years to buy a 10-marla house or plot.

For the first 10 years, the markup rate will be fixed at 5 percent. For the next 10 years, the normal bank markup rate will apply.

Loan options will include Rs2.5 million, Rs5 million, Rs7.5 million, and Rs10 million.

Estimated monthly installments are:

• Rs2.5 million loan: Rs16,499
• Rs5 million loan: Rs32,997
• Rs7.5 million loan: Rs49,497
• Rs10 million loan: Rs65,996

To apply, a person must have a valid CNIC and should not already be in debt.

Under the program, the government will provide 90 percent financing, while the applicant will pay 10 percent.

Loans will be available through Islamic banks, commercial banks, microfinance banks, and housing finance companies.

There will be no fee and no prepayment condition for getting the loan.

State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation will monitor the scheme.

Applications will be submitted online, and final approval is expected within one month.
