Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has shown exceptional efficiency in the first three months of 2026, recovering a total of “Rs 2.962 trillion,” which is 33 times more than the same period last year.
According to NAB, the Lahore and Multan offices jointly recovered 4,034 acres of government land worth Rs23.33 billion, while more than 54,000 acres of land worth over Rs2,891 billion were recovered in Karachi and Sukkur.
Meanwhile, more than 51,000 acres of government land worth Rs 36.54 billion were taken back in Balochistan. NAB also directly recovered more than Rs11 billion through plea bargains, auctions, and court fines.
According to the organization, approximately Rs 1.78 billion was returned to more than 6,000 victims in fraud cases, while government lands worth trillions of rupees are being identified in Punjab and Sindh.
NAB says that operations will continue for transparent accountability, protection of government assets, and restoration of the national treasury.
NAB Lahore and Multan, through their joint efforts, recovered 4,034 acres of government land worth Rs 23.33 billion, while NAB Karachi and Sukkur recovered 54,387 acres of government land worth Rs 2,891.38 billion.
During the same period, NAB Balochistan also returned 51,577 acres of government land worth Rs 36.54 billion to government custody. In addition to these government lands, NAB also directly recovered Rs 11.085 billion through plea bargains, auctions, and court fines.
Additionally, Rs1.78 billion worth of looted money was returned to 6,475 victims in cases of fraud against the public. This impressive performance reflects NAB’s focus on high-profile areas, improved case management, and strong coordination among departments.
Continuing this trend, NAB has identified more major recoveries with the cooperation of provincial governments. In Punjab, nearly 900,000 acres of government land worth Rs4.37 trillion is being identified, while in Sindh, 452,968 acres of land worth Rs10.96 trillion is being identified.
To expedite this process, the governments of Punjab and Sindh have formed special task forces under the supervision of a senior member of the Board of Revenue to ensure the return of government lands and their legal settlement.
This overall progress by the provinces reflects a widespread public sentiment for asset recovery. These ongoing initiatives will contribute to transparency and better governance and increase public trust.
NAB is committed to continuing accountability with impartiality and transparency and reiterates that public assets will be protected and money and government lands seized through corruption will be returned to the national treasury in any case.
