White House says US-Iran diplomatic contact continues

The White House has confirmed that diplomatic contact between the United States and Iran is still continuing.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said in an interview with US media that Washington is closely monitoring the regional situation and keeping diplomatic channels active.

According to the spokesperson, Donald Trump will only support an agreement with Iran that gives top priority to US national security.

She said the United States will not back any weak or unbalanced deal.

Anna Kelly also said that Iran’s leadership is facing both internal and external pressure during the current tensions and is taking different steps to manage the situation.

She added that keeping diplomatic talks active is necessary for stability in the region. However, the United States will not compromise on protecting its national interests.
