Flour prices rise across Pakistan – check rates

Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has reported a sharp increase in flour prices across the country over the past week. The price of a 20kg flour bag has gone up by as much as Rs200 in many cities.

Flour is a basic food item in Pakistan, and this price hike is adding more pressure on household budgets. Many families are finding it harder to manage daily expenses due to rising costs.

Karachi remains the most expensive city, where a 20kg flour bag is being sold for up to Rs2,500. On the other hand, Lahore has the lowest price, around Rs1,810 per bag.

The biggest price increases were seen in Hyderabad and Larkana, where prices jumped by Rs200. Sargodha saw an increase of Rs190, while Sukkur recorded a rise of Rs160. In Multan, prices went up by about Rs133. Meanwhile, Karachi and Khuzdar saw increases of up to Rs100.

Other cities also faced price hikes. Quetta saw an increase of Rs90, Islamabad Rs67, Gujranwala Rs66, and Rawalpindi Rs40.

According to official data, flour prices remain high in many cities. In Quetta, prices are around Rs2,450, while Hyderabad is at Rs2,440. Islamabad stands at Rs2,373, and Peshawar at Rs2,350.

In Bannu and Khuzdar, prices are around Rs2,300. Rawalpindi is at Rs2,347, Faisalabad at Rs2,250, and Sukkur and Larkana at Rs2,200.

Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Multan reported prices of about Rs2,133. Bahawalpur stands at Rs2,067, while Sargodha is around Rs2,000.

Overall, the rising flour prices are increasing financial pressure on people across the country.
