ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi and most districts of Sindh. The department warned that temperatures will rise sharply from Wednesday until May 11.

According to the Met Office, hot to very hot and dry weather is expected across most parts of Sindh. Heatwave conditions are likely in central and upper areas of the province during this period.

In several districts, including Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur, temperatures may reach 47 to 49 degrees Celsius.

The warning also includes Karachi and other major cities such as Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur, where intense heat conditions are expected.

The Met Office has advised people to avoid going out in direct sunlight, drink plenty of water, and take extra care, especially for children, women, and elderly people.
