Pakistan Seeks Early Launch of Direct Flights to United States, Says Mohsin Naqvi

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has stated that the government is actively seeking the early launch of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States, highlighting growing cooperation and mutual trust between the two nations.

He made these remarks during a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur, where both sides discussed bilateral relations as well as regional developments, including the situation in the Middle East.

The Interior Ministry said in an official statement that senior officials, including US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, also attended the meeting.

During the discussions, Naqvi emphasized that Pakistan-US relations have strengthened in recent years, particularly during the tenure of US President Donald Trump, and expressed optimism about continued cooperation in multiple sectors.

He also noted expanding collaboration in areas such as security, counterterrorism, and counternarcotics. According to him, Pakistan has ensured full security arrangements for US companies working on major projects like Reko Diq.

Naqvi further stated that Pakistan hopes for a peaceful and lasting resolution to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, while US officials appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability.

The minister’s comments on restoring direct flights come shortly after the resumption of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) services to London after a six-year suspension, signaling broader efforts to rebuild international aviation links.

Earlier developments also included government statements indicating plans to expand direct flight operations to destinations including the United States, Europe, and Canada as part of ongoing aviation sector reforms.
