Pakistani showbiz celebrities Arsalan Butt and Mamya Shajaffar grabbed the online attention, as the actor Arsalan Butt posted a copy of legal notice on his Instagram allegedly sent to fellow actor Mamya Shajaffar shared in a recent interview where she recalled an experience where a co-star’s conduct on set left her feeling “uncomfortable.”

According to the notice, Shajaffar’s interview on Say It All with Iffat Omar, alleged that Butt “sexually harassed her on set.” There has been no public statement from Shajaffar regarding the notice, while in her interview she identified the person simply as “Arsalan.” She subsequently explained online that her declaration did not concern “Arslan Khan” her College Gate costar.
According to reports, Butt is associated with the incident through Omar, who purportedly said that he was the one being referred to.
On May 21, when Shajaffar’s interview with Omar was released, in which Omar recounted multiple time of which “Arsalan’s” conduct reportedly made her feel “uncomfortable,” claiming he viewed her as “someone to get fresh or frank with.”
Shajaffar reminded an event where she was conversing Manto’s feminism with the project’s writer when “Arsalan” entered the discussion, claiming Manto was not a feminist and women “hated him”. Upon being rebuked by Shajaffar, he began “shaking his belt as if he wanted to take it off and hit me with it”. She said he also “started calling me names”.
The notice labelled Shajaffar’s allegations against “Arsalan” as “false, baseless, malicious and defamatory,” and it was said they resulted in “serious reputational damage, mental distress, humiliation and public embarrassment” for Butt.
She was also asked in the notice to “retract the allegations,” take down the “defamatory content,” post an “unconditional public apology and retraction” on YouTube and not repeat such statements going forward.
The notice added that if she did not comply within the stipulated 14 days would lead Butt’s legal team to initiate “civil defamation proceedings, criminal proceedings and all other remedies available under Pakistani law.”
Shajaffar further claimed in the interview that “Arsalan” commented on her body inappropriately, stating, “Listen, you should really eat this and eat that. That will give you some weight here and there.”
The actor stated that she asked her co-star to “shut the f*** up,” and said he did not respond well to her remark.
She further mentioned an instance when the director asked her and “Arsalan” to collaborate he moved closer and attempted to hug her. According to Shajaffar, she warned him four times not to touch her while backing off, and when he didn’t respect her request, she screamed at him.
The Lali actor stated that it caused him to break into his own stream of abusive language. “He lost his mind because I didn’t allow him to touch me without my permission. I don’t know how I had the guts, I was shaking, but I was like, ‘no means no’.”
