Field Marshal Munir Vows to Crush Terrorism After Deadly Quetta Blast Kills 14

27 May, 2026 17:31

Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has issued a firm and resolute response to the deadly terrorist attack in Quetta, declaring that no act of terror can weaken the will of Pakistan’s armed forces or its people, and pledging to pursue all perpetrators with full force.

At least 14 people were martyred in the attack, including three Frontier Corps personnel, while several others sustained injuries when a blast struck near the railway track close to Chaman Phatak in Quetta on Sunday. The attack cast a shadow over Eid ul Adha celebrations across the country.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, Field Marshal Munir was visiting Zhob District in Balochistan to celebrate Eid ul Adha with frontline troops deployed along the Western frontiers when he addressed the incident. Referring directly to what he described as a cowardly terrorist act orchestrated by Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Hindustan and its proxies, the field marshal reaffirmed that such inhuman and brutal acts would never shake the resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces or the nation at large.

Field Marshal Munir emphasized that the morale of both the troops and the Pakistani people remains completely unshaken. He reiterated that the armed forces, in close coordination with law enforcement agencies and the people of Balochistan, would relentlessly pursue all facilitators, abettors, and perpetrators of terrorism without compromise.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both issued strong condemnations of what they called a heinous attack, stating that such acts of terrorism are deliberately designed to harm innocent Pakistanis and distract the country from its constructive role in pursuing regional and global peace.

Field Marshal Munir’s visit to Balochistan began with Eid prayers accompanied by special supplications for Pakistan’s lasting peace, stability, and prosperity, and for the souls of martyrs who gave their lives in defense of the country. He extended Eid greetings to officers and soldiers, commending their exceptional grit, operational preparedness, and unwavering vigilance in the face of foreign-sponsored terrorism. Upon arrival, the field marshal was received by the Commander of Quetta Corps. He also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying solemn tribute to those who embraced martyrdom in defense of the motherland.
