The public in Pakistan has reacted with anger to the growing number of rape incidents, citing the failure to adequately punish the culprits. According to many observers that such violence is becoming normalized in Pakistan, where women are targeted by perpetrators driven by sexual violence or a desire to retaliate after rejection. Many people are urging authorities to impose severe punishments on such criminals, including public executions, while others say the repeated incidents expose serious shortcomings in the country’s legal and judicial systems.
