John Paulson's $1 Billion Divorce Settled — Now He's Planning Monaco Wedding at 71
John Paulson — the hedge fund manager who made roughly $15 billion shorting the US housing market in 2007 — has spent the last five years navigating a divorce battle as complex as any trade he ever structured. That chapter closed quietly on May 4, 2026. What opened immediately after is considerably louder: a Monaco wedding, a second child on the way, and a fiancée who describes their life together as a dream.

The divorce settlement — what we know
Paulson and his former wife Jenny were married in 2000 and share two daughters, Danielle and Giselle. He filed for divorce in September 2021, and Jenny — who learned about his relationship with Alina De Almeida through the press — responded by filing a $1 billion lawsuit in 2022, alleging he had concealed assets in a private trust. That lawsuit has now been dismissed as part of a confidential settlement reached on May 4, 2026. What is publicly known: Paulson transferred his Upper East Side mansion, valued at approximately $30 million, to Jenny as part of the agreement. The rest remains sealed.
The timing is significant. The ink on the settlement was barely dry before Paulson and De Almeida’s wedding and pregnancy news broke simultaneously — suggesting the couple had been waiting for legal clarity before going public with their next chapter.

Monaco, Villa La Vigie, and a three-day celebration
The couple has chosen Villa La Vigie on the cape of the Monte-Carlo Beach for their 2027 wedding ceremony — one of the most exclusive private estates in the principality. Paulson explained the location choice to Page Six directly:
A three-day destination wedding at a Monégasque villa with a high-profile guest list signals a deliberate statement of arrival — both personally and socially. This is not a quiet courthouse ceremony. It is a full public relaunch.

Who is Alina De Almeida?
De Almeida, 38, is a Columbia University-trained clinical dietitian and founder of Effective Lifestyle, a health and wellness venture she built after leaving her clinical role at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She studied pediatric oncology and nutrition sciences, and volunteered at Chilton Memorial Hospital before launching her own practice. She is not a socialite by origin — she is a credentialed health professional who entered Paulson’s world through personal connection, not inherited wealth.
The couple welcomed their first daughter, Jacqueline, in February 2025. Their second child is expected later this year. De Almeida described the moment simply:
