Iran Warns Israel That Any Strike on Lebanon Constitutes Breach of US Agreement
Iran has issued a stark warning to Israel, declaring that any military strike on Lebanese territory will be treated as a direct violation of the agreement reached between Tehran and Washington.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the position clear, stating that from Iran’s standpoint, the agreement has two defined sides — Iran and Hezbollah on one end, and the United States and Israel on the other. He emphasized that going forward, any Israeli attack on Lebanon, or the continued occupation of Lebanese soil, would be regarded by Tehran as a formal breach of that understanding.
“From now on, any Israeli attack on Lebanon and the continued occupation of Lebanese territory would be viewed by Iran as a breach of the agreement,” Araghchi stated.
The warning arrives as tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border show fresh signs of eruption. Israel confirmed it had targeted what it described as “militants” moving toward its soldiers in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah, in turn, claimed responsibility for retaliatory missile and drone strikes directed at Israeli forces in the area.
The timing of Araghchi’s remarks is significant. Following the announcement of the Iran-US agreement, Israel had already signaled that its forces would not be withdrawing — instead maintaining deployment inside what it defines as security zones within Lebanese territory. Iran now appears to be drawing a direct line between that Israeli posture and the terms it considers binding under the deal.
The situation places Washington in a delicate position, caught between its agreement with Tehran and its traditional military and strategic backing of Israel. Whether the US will pressure Israel to pull back from Lebanese territory — or whether Israel will treat the Iranian warning as a bluff — could determine whether the agreement holds or unravels entirely.
With active clashes already reported and both Hezbollah and Israeli forces exchanging fire, the coming days will test whether diplomacy can contain a conflict that appears far from settled on the ground.
