Punjab reaches 40°C as heatwave continues across Pakistan

27 June, 2026 15:53

Pakistan is experiencing very hot weather in many cities, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Punjab, Peshawar, and many parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing hot and dry conditions, while Karachi is seeing humid weather with partly cloudy skies.

In Lahore, the temperature is expected to reach 40°C, while the daytime temperature is around 37°C. The PMD said there is no major rain system at the moment, but a few areas may receive light rain.

A new weather system is expected to enter Pakistan on July 2. It may bring rain to Lahore and other parts of Punjab, helping reduce the intense heat.

Karachi will remain humid over the next 24 hours, with light drizzle possible during the morning and night. The temperature is expected to stay between 34°C and 36°C.

Peshawar is also facing very hot weather, with temperatures likely to reach 41°C. However, some upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may receive rain.

The PMD has warned that higher-than-normal temperatures may continue across Pakistan, especially in Sindh, central Punjab, and eastern Balochistan. Although rainfall is expected to be lower than normal, heavy rain in some places could still cause urban flooding.

People are advised to drink plenty of water, avoid going outside during the hottest part of the day, and follow official weather updates.
