Iran and Qatar Resume Maritime Trade as Iranian Leaders Vow Response to Khamenei Assassination

05 July, 2026 18:08

Maritime trade between Iran and Qatar has resumed after a five-month suspension that followed the conflict involving Iran, according to Iranian officials. Iran’s commercial attaché in Doha confirmed the restoration of shipping activities, marking the reopening of a key trade route between the two neighboring countries.

A maritime company reported that six vessels transited through an Omani shipping corridor in the Strait of Hormuz following the resumption of operations. It added that two ships sailing near Oman on Saturday altered their course, while four others returned to the Persian Gulf after encountering patrols by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Separately, Iran’s Army chief pledged that those responsible for the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei would be held accountable. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also vowed to continue what he described as the late Leader’s path, reaffirming his commitment to carrying forward Ayatollah Khamenei’s legacy.
