China and Russia have begun their annual joint naval exercise “Joint Sea-2026,” with forces assembling at a port in eastern China ahead of a week-long drill aimed at strengthening maritime coordination.

According to China’s Ministry of National Defence and Russian state media, the exercises will take place from July 6 to 13 in waters and airspace near Qingdao in the Yellow Sea. Officials said the drills are designed to enhance security cooperation and maintain regional stability through coordinated naval operations.

Following the main exercise phase, selected naval units from both sides are expected to conduct joint maritime patrols in the Pacific Ocean, though exact locations were not disclosed. The announcement did not provide further operational details but confirmed that the patrols will continue as part of ongoing military collaboration between the two countries.
