Hezbollah Chief Honors Martyred Leader’s Legacy, Rejects Lebanon Framework Deal
Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem has paid tribute to the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, calling him “an exceptional contemporary leader rarely matched in history.”
In a televised speech, Sheikh Qassem said Ayatollah Khamenei was a respected religious leader, a strong supporter of the Muslim world, and a leader who guided people with wisdom and faith.
He praised Ayatollah Khamenei as a visionary leader, skilled politician, and supporter of the Axis of Resistance. He said the late Leader always stood with courage, confidence, and trust in God.
Sheikh Qassem said millions of people who attended the funeral ceremonies in Iran and Iraq showed their loyalty and commitment to Ayatollah Khamenei’s path.
Speaking about the recent US-Israeli war on Iran, he said the conflict was “a global act of aggression against a country that stood firm alone and thwarted the objectives of aggressors.” He added that Iran came out of the war stronger and more united.
The Hezbollah chief also said the United States and Israel failed to achieve their goals, and that Iran emerged from the conflict “with its head held high.”
Turning to Lebanon, Sheikh Qassem called for “ending the US tutelage over Lebanon.” He questioned the benefits of Lebanon’s relationship with the United States and accused Washington of supporting policies that serve Israel’s interests.
He also criticized continued Israeli attacks in Lebanon despite the ceasefire that took effect in November 2024, including a recent strike that killed four people in southern Lebanon.
Sheikh Qassem rejected direct talks with Israel and said Hezbollah would continue to oppose any agreement it believes harms Lebanon’s sovereignty. He added that Hezbollah remains committed to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran.
