Pakistan Urges Restraint as Ishaq Dar Holds Talks with Iran FM Araghchi
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday held a telephone conversation today with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and talk over the most recent regional developments among fresh conflicts between Washington and Tehran.
In a phone call, both leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation. Dar urged the “parties” to de-escalate and exercise restraint, as agreed in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding in June, according to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.
The phone discussions is the resulting of recent US and Iranian forces exchanged heavy missile and drone strikes, with Tehran targeting US facilities in states across the Gulf on Sunday after saying it had again closed the vital Strait of Hormuz.
Ishaq Dar worried upon the revelries to follow the path of stepping down and show control, as decided in the Islamabad MoU in June 2026. He additional highlighted that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only worthwhile lane to determining clashes and attaining lasting peace and constancy in the region.
As the discussion continued, he repeated Pakistan’s willingness to continue playing a “constructive” role in promoting and upholding regional peace and stability.
The two ministers agreed to remain in close contact, the statement concluded.
