Mehreen Jabbar Highlights Key Reason Behind Pakistan’s Lack of Netflix Originals

Mehreen Jabbar a biggest Pakistani filmmaker has offered her perspective and shared some key reasons behind why Pakistan has yet to produce many Netflix Originals, in which she pointed out on Pakistan’s limited market size, compared with India, is the primary reason for the lack of Netflix Originals.

Mahreen more explained that, Netflix oversees its regional business from India due to its significantly larger number of subscribers.

As per her statement, the size of the audience plays a key role in business decisions, which is why India sees more investment in Netflix Originals.

Mehreen Jabbar believes Pakistan has plenty of talented writers, directors, and actors, but the main problem is market economics, not creativity.

Following her statement, the user of social media, highlighting the difficulties Pakistan’s entertainment industry faces in attracting global streaming giants.

At the same time, Ahsan Iqbal announced that Pakistan is working with leading OTT platforms, including Netflix, to develop long-term partnerships that will help take Pakistani films and TV dramas to audiences around the world.

According to the minister’s post on X, that Pakistani films and dramas continue to receive appreciation globally, further the creative and cultural industry is one of the government’s main priorities under the Uraan Pakistan export strategy.
