Armed groups of banned Joint Action Committee attack security forces and civilians in Rawalakot

14 July, 2026 13:07

Rawalakot: The violent face of the banned Joint Action Committee has once again been exposed as its armed elements launched an attack on security forces and civilians near Matial Meera Bus Terminal in Rawalakot, attempting to spread chaos and challenge the writ of the state.

According to reports, after failing to achieve its nefarious objectives, armed groups of the banned organization opened indiscriminate fire on the civilian population in the area on the morning of July 14. The attack was allegedly aimed at creating fear among citizens, provoking unrest and reviving a failed protest campaign.

Sources said that when police personnel moved to control the law and order situation, the armed groups opened fire on law enforcement agencies using automatic weapons and ammunition, showing a clear disregard for peace and public safety.

Rangers personnel deployed to support the police also reached the scene to restore normalcy. However, the armed attackers continued their assault and targeted security personnel with sophisticated weapons and improvised explosive devices.

As a result of the attack, a Rangers soldier embraced martyrdom while another sustained injuries while performing duties to protect citizens and maintain peace.

Armed violence exposes false claims of peaceful struggle

Security analysts and experts have stated that the use of modern weapons and explosives by the banned Joint Action Committee proves that the group is not pursuing a peaceful agenda but is attempting to undermine state authority through violence.

Experts said the incident has uncovered the real intentions behind the organization’s activities, as a group claiming peaceful protest has resorted to armed attacks against security institutions and innocent civilians.

They further stated that targeting law enforcement personnel with automatic weapons and explosives is not a political activity but an act of violence that threatens public security and stability.

State institutions committed to restoring peace

Experts emphasized that maintaining peace and protecting citizens remain the top priorities of the state. They said strict action against armed elements involved in violence is essential to ensure the rule of law and safeguard the lives and property of people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The attack has raised serious questions over the banned Joint Action Committee’s activities and highlighted the need for effective measures against elements attempting to disrupt peace and challenge the state’s authority.
