Field Marshal Asim Munir Holds High-Level Meetings During Official Visit to Turkiye

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Field Marshal, Asim Munir, paid an official high-level visit to Turkiye, where he held meetings with senior Turkish leadership to discuss regional security and bilateral defence cooperation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The military said the field marshal received a warm welcome and met with Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Guler.

During the visit, Field Marshal Munir was presented with a guard of honor at the Turkish General Staff Headquarters and held talks with Selçuk Bayraktaroglu and Turkish Land Forces Commander Metin Tokel on professional military matters and regional security. ISPR said he was also awarded the Turkish Armed Forces’ Distinguished Service Medal in recognition of his contributions to defense cooperation between the two countries.

As part of the visit, Field Marshal Munir laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk at Anıtkabir in Ankara. According to ISPR, Pakistan and Turkiye reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening their longstanding strategic partnership and expanding cooperation in defence and security.
