19 July, 2026 18:22

Iranian and South Korean officials have discussed measures to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation, emphasizing the need for greater mutual recognition of each country’s capabilities and increased awareness of their economic potential. The proposals were discussed during a meeting between Iran’s newly appointed ambassador to South Korea, Ahmad Erfanian, and Tehran Chamber Secretary-General Fereydoun Vardinejad, attended by representatives of the Iran-South Korea Joint Chamber of Commerce.

During the meeting, participants proposed holding regular business-to-business (B2B) meetings, specialized webinars, trade delegations, and closer cooperation with South Korean chambers of commerce to boost commercial ties. They also stressed the importance of exchanging economic and technological information to help businesses identify investment opportunities and establish long-term partnerships.

Vardinejad praised South Korea’s economic development over recent decades, citing its achievements in industrial, cultural and technological sectors. He said Iran’s private sector is ready to expand cooperation with Korean companies in areas including the automotive industry, home appliances, information technology, the digital economy, medicine, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, adding that coordinated planning and stronger institutional engagement could significantly enhance bilateral trade relations.
