IRGC Major Strike on US Base in Kuwait, Patriot System and MQ-9 Facilities Destroyed

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claim to have struck US military bases in Kuwait in retaliation for American operations, targeting Ali Al Salem Air Base with a drone attack that reportedly destroyed a major weapons depot, a Patriot air defense system, and hangars housing MQ-9 drones. The claim has not been independently verified by US, Kuwaiti, or other outside sources.

According to a statement from the IRGC’s public relations department, the strikes also hit residential facilities for US forces and two helicopter hangars at Camp Al-Judairi, resulting in what the Guards described as multiple American personnel killed and wounded, along with severe damage to several helicopters and drones. None of these casualty or damage figures have been confirmed by CENTCOM or independent sources.

The Guards said a communications tower in Kuwait was also struck, describing it as a response to a US strike on a communications tower inside Iran — a tit-for-tat framing that suggests Iran is presenting each claimed action as directly reciprocal to a specific prior American strike, part of a messaging pattern the IRGC has used consistently throughout the conflict’s numbered “Operation Nasr 2” waves.

If accurate, the destruction of a Patriot air defense system would represent a particularly significant claimed loss, given the system’s role as a core layer of US and allied missile defense in the Gulf and its substantial cost and limited availability compared to more easily replaced equipment. Similarly, MQ-9 Reaper drones represent high-value surveillance and strike assets whose loss would meaningfully affect regional operational capacity if the claim holds up.

This marks at least the second targeted claim against Kuwait-based US installations in recent days, following earlier IRGC claims of strikes on Al-Ahmadi port fuel facilities and Camp Arifjan’s logistics center, part of a broader pattern of claimed attacks against countries hosting American forces. Iran’s military leadership has separately warned nations hosting US bases to prepare for what it calls proportionate retaliation, urging civil defense activation and civilian relocation from potential target sites — rhetoric that frames these Kuwait strikes as part of a sustained campaign rather than isolated incidents.
