Afghan Media Reports Increase in Anti-Taliban Resistance, Claims Thousands Join NRF

Afghan media outlets have reported a significant increase in anti-Taliban resistance activities in Badakhshan Province, claiming that more than 2,000 volunteers have joined the National Resistance Front (NRF) over the past two days. According to these reports, the growing number of recruits reflects rising public opposition to Taliban rule, with young people from Badakhshan, Balkh, Panjshir, Bamyan, and Kunduz said to be joining the resistance movement.

According to Afghan media, the NRF also carried out an attack on a Taliban checkpoint in the Kuran wa Munjan district of Badakhshan. The reports claim that one Taliban member was killed and two others were injured in the assault. Local sources cited by Afghan media reportedly confirmed that an attack on the checkpoint had taken place.

The reports further allege that increasing resistance is a response to the Taliban’s policies, describing them as repressive and exploitative. These claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no official confirmation from the Taliban or independent observers regarding the reported recruitment figures or the alleged attack.
