Kubra Khan Opens Up About Appearance Criticism and Unrealistic Beauty Standards

Pakistani actress Kubra Khan’s recent interview are become hot topic across social media, where she discussed about the comments she receives about her appearance and age, saying that she prefers not to respond to negative comments, but they still affect her deeply.

During interview on Gloss Etc. by Maliha Rehman, Kubra talk about the criticism surrounding her on-screen pairing with actor Shuja Asad, who plays Salman in the popular drama serial ‘Doctor Bahu.’

Maliha Rehman as a host pointed out that viewers began questioning Kubra and Shuja Asad’s on-screen pairing shortly after the drama started airing. She also pointed out that Kubra had faced similar comments during ‘Noor Jahan’ and asked if such remarks were hurtful.

In which Kubra response, “Of course. Just because I don’t respond doesn’t mean I’m not affected by it.”

The, the actress discussed that in entertainment industry people set some unrealistic beauty standards, and women are often expected to fit into a specific idea of what is considered beautiful.

“Our industry and our culture have created a very small mould that not everyone can fit into. Unfortunately, I’m one of those people who doesn’t fit that mould,” she said.

Kubra described that women are repeatedly refereed by their looks instead of their talent. She said people anticipate women to be fair-skinned, very slim, tall and have flawless hair to be considered beautiful.

She confessed that she has confronted such sentences for years but has learned that she cannot please everyone or always seek consent from others. Kubra said that even though she does not react to disapprovals and criticism, but it does not mean the criticism has no effect on her. She considers, it is impossible to explain herself or win the approval of everyone.
