Taliban Faces Rising Resistance in Afghanistan as Armed Groups Expand Attacks

Resistance against the Afghan Taliban has grown stronger in recent weeks with opposition groups conducting fresh attacks in various areas of Afghanistan. The latest clashes have questioned the Taliban regime’s statements about having established complete control and stability in Afghanistan.

A report by the US-based Long War Journal that resistance groups opposing the Taliban have increased their operations, particularly targeting Taliban positions in Badakhshan province. The findings highlighted several attacks on Taliban targets, which were carried out by opposition groups over the past fortnight.

According to reports, Sepahyan-e-Mehen carried out an assault on Yaftal-e-Sufla district center on July 17, briefly gaining control of the location. The Afghan Freedom Front conducted targeted operations against Taliban units in Zaybak district on July 23.

A report by the Long War Journal said the National Resistance Front attacked a Taliban outpost in Karan and Manjan districts, where one Taliban fighter was killed and two were wounded.

According to Afghan journalist Abu Muslim Sherzad, growing resistance activities could weaken the Taliban’s grip, especially in the northern province of Badakhshan.

The latest clashes demonstrate the challenges confronting the Taliban, as armed opposition groups continue raise questions over the stability and control of the current regime.
