Armed forces ready to assist NDMA, civil administration in relief operations: CDF Asim Munir

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Monday to review Pakistan’s disaster preparedness and coordinated response arrangements for the ongoing monsoon season.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief was briefed by the Chairman NDMA on the operational capabilities of the National Emergencies Operation Centre and its technology-driven disaster response mechanisms.

The briefing included an overview of “Disaster Lens 2026,” a digital monitoring platform designed to provide real-time updates on the prevailing monsoon situation and support multi-hazard monitoring across the country. Officials highlighted the system’s role in improving situational awareness and strengthening coordination during emergencies.

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated the NDMA’s efforts to enhance Pakistan’s national disaster management capacity and acknowledged the organization’s commitment to improving preparedness through modern technology and coordinated planning.

The Army Chief stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of operational readiness, ensuring effective coordination among all relevant institutions, and delivering a swift response to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure during natural disasters.

He also reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to assist the civil administration and the NDMA in relief, rescue, and rehabilitation operations whenever required, underscoring the military’s continued support for national disaster response efforts during the ongoing monsoon season.
