Pakistan, Iran Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments, Makkah Defence Agreement

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday, during which the two leaders exchanged views on regional and international developments.

According to the Foreign Office, the discussions focused particularly on the evolving situation in the region and ongoing efforts to promote peace, stability and security.

During the conversation, Ishaq Dar also briefed his Iranian counterpart on the contours of the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. He underscored that the agreement aims to strengthen strategic cooperation among the participating countries and contribute to regional peace and security.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi thanked Dar for sharing details of the agreement and its key objectives.

The two foreign ministers also agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on matters of mutual interest, as regional developments continue to unfold.
