Harry and Meghan’s ‘Cookie Queens’ Faces Box Office Setback After Release
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest film Cookie Queens has had a slow start at the US box office, although there is still a chance for the film to improve in the coming days.
The Girl Scout-themed film from Archewell Productions earned under £250,000 after being released in 446 cinemas on August 7Cookie Queens failed to make the top 10 at the US box office in its opening weekend, with CatVideoFest 2026 earning more.
An industry source reportedly described the film’s opening numbers as a “pitiful return.” However, the film’s distributor, Roadside Attractions, said it was encouraged by the response, particularly among Girl Scout groups. The production cost of the film has not been revealed.
Reviews for Cookie Queens have also been mixed. Variety described the film as feeling like “too much of a reality show ramble,” while RogerEbert.com gave it a more positive response, calling it a “delightful doc.”
The 91-minute documentary explores the Girl Scout cookie season and the experiences of young girls growing up. It looks at the joys, pressures and challenges connected with one of America’s most familiar traditions.
The film was produced by Archewell Productions, the company founded by Harry and Meghan in 2020. The couple previously produced the documentary series Harry & Meghan and Meghan’s cooking show With Love, Meghan.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Sundance Film Festival in January, where they promoted their film Cookie Queens. Meghan also united a special broadcast of the film in July, where she take part in a Q&A session and shared her experience as a former Girl Scout.
Meghan also recalled Harry’s words of encouragement, saying he reminded her that the sun is always shining, even during the toughest storms.
