PMU Official Hails September 30 as Historic Day for Iraq

A senior official from Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Hashd al-Sha’abi, has described September 30 as a historic day for the country, as it is expected to mark the withdrawal of the US-led military coalition from Iraq. PMU Media Department Director Muhannad al-Aqabi said the withdrawal would represent a major achievement to which various Iraqi parties had contributed.
Al-Aqabi said Iraq’s current security and stability were the result of sacrifices made by the country’s security forces. He also warned that some individuals were seeking to complicate efforts to place all weapons under exclusive state control, while stressing that Iraqi resistance factions remained committed to the political process and national stability.
The PMU official called on all segments of Iraqi society to celebrate September 30 as a day of sovereignty and joy. He also expressed surprise at reports or speculation about possible confrontations and clashes following the coalition’s withdrawal, saying such concerns were unwarranted.
