Russian Drone Strike on Kryvyi Rih Shopping Centre Kills at Least 16

At least 16 people have been killed in a Russian drone strike on a shopping centre in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, according to local officials. Another 130 people, including 23 children, were injured in the attack on the city’s largest shopping centre, while officials said more people may still be trapped under the rubble.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned what he called an “absolutely cynical and despicable” daytime attack in his hometown, saying it was carried out in two waves. He said the second strike deliberately targeted emergency responders who had arrived at the scene after the first attack, as the shopping centre was already on fire.

Dramatic footage verified by the BBC showed a second drone striking the burning shopping centre in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack has drawn condemnation from Ukrainian officials, while Russia’s military has not issued an immediate comment on the reported strike or the allegations that emergency workers were deliberately targeted.
