Iran Announces $30,000 Reward for Capturing or Killing US Troops
The Iranian Army has announced a cash reward of 5 billion tomans, around $30,000, for anyone who captures or kills US troops if American forces carry out a ground invasion of Iran.
Iranian Army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-Nia said, “Any member of the armed forces or any of our dear citizens who legally possesses a hunting firearm, and who kills or captures invading US forces in the event of a ground incursion into our territory, will receive a reward of 5 billion tomans ($30,000),”
He said the reward would be doubled if an Iranian woman carries out the action.
According to the spokesman, the firearm used would also be purchased by the Iranian Army for twice its original price. The weapon would then be placed in a military museum as a historical symbol of honor.
“The weapon will be purchased at twice its price and preserved in a museum prepared by the Army. It will remain there throughout history as a source of pride, bearing the name of its owner, and the Army will present the owner with a similar weapon,” he added.
The announcement comes amid continuing tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel following recent military confrontations.
Iran has responded to attacks with missile and drone strikes against Israeli-occupied territories as well as US bases and interests in the region.
The escalation later led to a ceasefire, followed by diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict and resolving differences between Tehran and Washington.
The Strait of Hormuz has also remained a major point of tension. The strategically important waterway has faced restrictions during the conflict, disrupting regional maritime traffic and affecting energy shipments.
Iran has said the Strait will not be reopened until the United States meets the demands set by Tehran.
