Araghchi: Iran and China Seek a Fairer and More Peaceful World Order

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran and China have significant potential to contribute to a fairer international order and strengthen multilateralism, peace and stability.

In an article titled “A New Vision on the Horizon of Iran-China Strategic Partnership,” published in an Iranian newspaper, Araghchi said prospects for cooperation between Tehran and Beijing are brighter and more dynamic than ever.

Referring to the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Iran and China, Araghchi described the two countries as friends in difficult times and said their cooperation in promoting regional peace and security reflects a shared commitment to lasting stability.

He said Iran and China have successfully navigated different challenges by building on their common interests while respecting their differences.

According to Araghchi, the 55-year-old diplomatic relationship has entered a new and dynamic phase under the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

He said relations between Tehran and Beijing have become deeper and more comprehensive in recent years, particularly amid Western sanctions and what Iran describes as maximum pressure against the country.

Araghchi described China as Iran’s first economic partner and highlighted Beijing’s influential role in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS and the United Nations Security Council.

He said China has maintained a constructive and responsible approach toward major international developments.

Commenting on the conflicts involving the United States and Israel, Araghchi said international law, the UN Charter and universal principles had been seriously violated, while the international community had failed to take effective measures to prevent attacks or hold those responsible accountable.

He said China had repeatedly warned about the danger of a return to the “law of the jungle,” adding that recent conflicts had demonstrated the importance of such concerns.

Araghchi stressed that Iran and China, along with other peace-loving countries, should turn their shared commitment into practical initiatives aimed at protecting international peace and security.

He expressed Iran’s appreciation for China’s positions on international issues and its approach toward what Tehran considers the misuse of the UN Security Council by the United States.

The Iranian foreign minister said Tehran was ready to further expand strategic cooperation with Beijing to strengthen regional stability, economic prosperity and collective security.

Araghchi also highlighted the growing importance of Iran-China cooperation in international institutions, saying Tehran supports the development of multilateral organizations that can better represent the interests of developing countries.

He described platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS as important tools for reducing the monopoly of global power and moving toward a fairer international system.

Araghchi said Iran would make greater use of the opportunities provided by these platforms to strengthen its strategic relations with China and other member states.

He concluded that stronger Iran-China cooperation could serve not only the interests of the two countries but also contribute to genuine multilateralism, greater international justice and lasting peace and stability.
