Saudi Business Delegation Reaffirms Interest in Expanding Investment in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: A high-level Saudi business delegation, led by His Highness Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi-Pak Joint Business Council, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday, reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s interest in strengthening business-to-business and government-to-government economic cooperation with Pakistan.

During the warm and cordial meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his respectful regards to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

The Prime Minister highlighted the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and discussed avenues for expanding economic cooperation and investment between the two countries.

Welcoming the Saudi delegation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan, in line with the vision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was keen to transform its economic relationship with Saudi Arabia into a mutually beneficial strategic economic partnership.

Recalling Prince Mansour’s earlier visits to Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the current visit would build upon previous discussions and lead to the signing of memorandums of understanding and agreements across multiple sectors.

The Saudi delegation expressed keen interest in investment opportunities in a range of priority sectors, including agriculture, ports, highways, airport outsourcing, real estate, energy, power distribution and information technology.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the Saudi interest, describing the present time as an opportune moment for enhanced collaboration between the two countries through both government-to-government and business-to-business initiatives.

Prince Mansour thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Saudi government’s and business community’s continued interest in deepening business-to-business engagement with Pakistan.

During its stay in Pakistan, the Saudi delegation is also holding meetings with senior government representatives and private-sector stakeholders to explore investment opportunities and identify areas for further cooperation.

Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Dr. Musadik Malik, Jam Kamal Khan, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ataullah Tarar, Junaid Anwar Chaudhury, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Sardar Awais Ahmed Leghari and Muhammad Hanif Abbasi attended the meeting.

Advisors Muhammad Ali and Haroon Akhtar Khan, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and senior government officials were also present.
