Afghan Economy Collapses Under Taliban Rule, Citizens Face Severe Crisis
Afghanistan’s economic crisis has continued to worsen under the Taliban, with ordinary citizens facing serious financial difficulties.
According to the Afghanistan Analysts Network, the Afghan economy has struggled since the Taliban took control of the country. The think tank said Afghanistan’s GDP has continued to decline, while the employment situation remains difficult.
The labor market is failing to provide enough opportunities for people to earn a stable income. Economic hardship has also forced Afghan women and children to work for very low wages, according to the report.
The think tank said restrictions on women’s education and employment have further reduced economic opportunities for women. Many Afghan families are reportedly being forced to sacrifice their children’s education, assets and future to survive.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has also highlighted the difficult economic conditions faced by people in Afghanistan.
Reports from international organizations point to continuing economic challenges in the country and the difficulties faced by ordinary Afghan families.
