Anti-RSS Protests in US Expose BJP’s Anti-Minority Agenda
Protests against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have been reported in the United States ahead of a speech by its chief, with critics raising concerns about Hindutva ideology and the treatment of minorities in India.
According to German broadcaster DW, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani described the Hindu nationalist organization RSS as divisive.
TRT reported that protests were held in New York ahead of an event featuring the RSS chief. Protesters accused the organization of promoting hatred and violence against minorities, including Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits and Christians.
TRT also reported that the BJP, led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has ideological links with the RSS and has significant political influence in India.
Indian publication The Wire has also reported on the RSS’s influence in Indian politics and education.
Analyst Jeffrey Christophe said the RSS’s growing influence over universities and educational policies in India cannot be ignored.
The protests in the US have once again brought international attention to debates surrounding the RSS, Hindutva ideology and minority rights in India.
