Israeli Forces Intensify Attacks on Southern Lebanon Amid Ceasefire Talks

Israeli forces intensified their military operations in southern Lebanon on Saturday, carrying out explosions, drone strikes and arson attacks in several towns despite ongoing negotiations aimed at ending the aggression. Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported no immediate casualties from the latest attacks.

According to NNA, Israeli forces carried out two explosions near Aita al-Jabal, while Israeli drones struck Nabatieh al-Fawqa at around 8:55 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. Israeli forces also set fire to homes in the southern Lebanese town of Beit Yahoun, adding to the latest series of attacks across the region.

The escalation comes despite a US-brokered framework agreement signed in June that calls for a cessation of hostilities and Israel’s gradual withdrawal from Lebanese territory. The agreement also places obligations on Lebanon, including the disarmament of Hezbollah and refraining from international legal action against Israel.
